Welcome to Lil Aussie Posse
I am a hobby breeder. My dogs are part of my family. They live in the house with us. Their puppies are born in our home and raised underfoot. I would not have it any other way.
I am located in Norfolk, Virginia. Part of the Hampton Roads area. Occasionally we have puppies available. Miniature Australian Shepherds, Miniature American Shepherds, Mini Aussies, Mini Ameris, Toy Australian Shepherds, Toy Aussies. These are names associated with these wonderful Australian Shepherds regardless the registry. There are several registries for the dogs as well. Enough to make your head spin and feel very confused. AKC, ASDR, NSDR, MASCA, NAMASCUSA, MASCUSA, IMASC and more. All said and done they all have the same origin. Breed Standard remains the same through out the different registries. Their heritage remains the same as well.
Dogs have always been a part of loved ones in our family. My goal is to produce healthy, beautifully correct dogs with great temperaments that are easily trained. I strive for each generation to be an improvement over the previous. It has been quite a journey and we have many challenges ahead of us. I look forward to and welcome them. Some will fill us with pride and joy while others will hold disappointment. I have learned a lot from my disappointments, mostly to expect them. It makes me appreciate those high moments so much more.
Anyone can breed two dogs and have a litter of pups. But this picture sums it all up. Well socialized puppies with great temperaments, that is our goal. Conformation and improving within the breed standard is also important. I attend workshops and seminars. I educate myself with home study courses. There is always one book or another on my nightstand that I am reading about dogs in some form. Genetics, Conformation, Breeding, Medical Science, Training Techniques, there is always more to learn! Our dogs are all tested and cleared for breed specific DNA testing, as well as eye CERF's, OFA's. We attend training with our dogs. We are working on CGC's. (AKC Canine Good Citizen) Our dogs all get a variety of classes to participate in to see where they excel. Everything including obedience, therapy dog, nose-work, agility and more. It is a costly endeavor, but that is what it means to be a responsible breeder.
All in summary, I am always looking for ways to improve my knowledge and provide healthy well adjusted dogs to new owners. Upon request I would be more than happy to provide you with references.
